The Damages team spent the last week holed up and keeping warm in our very own Plymouth Street spot. While we can’t say everybody was thrilled that FX‘s legal-drama show claimed all the decent parking spots in the neighborhood, those of us in the building did get to see a bit of the action. Most of the team was set up down on the second floor where everybody was trying to keep warm against the January cold, but the main shots were done with that priceless Brooklyn Bridge view in mind. All of us at The Anchorage know that a good shot of the DUMBO waterfront is priceless, and all of you sitting in front of your flat-screens have a chance to share that experience in the upcoming Damages…. and if it leaves you wanting more, we’ll be here at The Anchorage to serve you a beer and a little art with that view.
Floating Kabarette at Galapagos in DUMBO December 28, 2009
This weekend we went down to the corner to check out the Floating Kabarette at Galapagos Art Space. Its an amazing space and aptly named. A 1600 square foot indoor lake covers a large portion of the first floor, with seating available in circular island pods. As self-proclaimed “cultural leaders in New York,” Galapagos doesn’t accept and kind of govt. grants or public funding, they believe the art should carry itself.
This particular show is part of an ongoing series. If you come early the show is free, but as the night goes on and the show gets racier, the price starts to rise.
We took a few photos of our own, but then found these at Entwined Studio’s blog and thought we’d borrow them.

Music. Drinks. Art. Free! -12/09 First Thursday in DUMBO December 4, 2009
“DUMBO, once a sleepy neighborhood of warehouses on the “other” side of the Manhattan Bridge, has quickly become an art lovers destination. Galleries abound, this small enclave of Brooklyn boasts dozens of art centers, galleries, and studios that display, sell, and create some of the most avant-garde art in the five boroughs.
The first Thursday of each month, serious art collectors and casual browsers convene on the streets of DUMBO for the First Thursday Gallery Walk.”
